John has composed music for a range of media over the last thirty years in variety of genres. He recently composed the music for the Sci-fi radio drama Project Zed along with creating the sound design. In 2007 he composed the music for Radio 4's adaptation of Lionel Shriver's 'We Need To Talk About Kevin' where his solo piano supplies a counterpoint to the difficult nature of the subject matter.
In collaboration with Tim Sagar he has written music for three documentary films: 'Overalls' in country blues style, ‘Rockets’ with electronic evocations of space, and ‘Resilient Therapy’ in the world music genre.
In the past he composed rock theme music for ‘Quest for the Best' a training CD-ROM suite produced for Shell commercial and has both recorded and performed his own improvised music for a number of different dance companies.
John prefers writing music using Cubase which he has used for many years but is able to use many multi-track programs.
